darrenhekDarren Hek - Head of the Residential Property Department

Darren has over 8 years experience in dealing with residential property matters having previously worked for two large firms in Cardiff and Newport gaining a wealth of experience in residential sales and purchases, re-mortgaging and all associated areas of conveyancing.

While working for a previous top 100 law firm in Cardiff, Darren was instrumental in writing and launching a bespoke case management system for residential sales and purchases and re-mortgaging.

Darren also has experience in commercial property transactions ranging from acquisitions of commercial development sites and drafting planning agreements to drafting and completing commercial leases.

 

paulPaul Jones - Head of theCommercial Property Department

Prior to establishing Hek Jones, Paul worked for a number of commercial firms in Cardiff and Newport as well as in the public sector. His specialisms are in the areas of commercial property, planning law and corporate governance.

Paul has experience representing a number of nationally known banks and property developers.This has enabled him to work on some of the most well publicised developments in the Cardiff region, in both land acquisition and funding.

Whilst working in the general Commercial Property team for a top 100 law firm in Cardiff, Paul had responsibility for undertaking assignments, leases and disposals for a large industrial estate management company, as well as assisting on general property development work.

Paul has previous experience as an advisor to a planning committee and represented the local authority in a number of Public Inquiries.Paul also has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting planning agreements.

Andrew Jones - Head of the Commercial Litigation Department

Andrew specialises in litigation and dispute resolution and has experience in dealing with a wide caseload covering all aspects of civil procedure including professional negligence actions, breach of contract, defamation and negligent misstatement, construction disputes, debt and insolvency matters (both individual and corporate), cohabitation disputes relating to property, actions against the police, road traffic recovery and personal injury cases. This work has included publicly funded and conditional fee cases as well as private funding.

Andrew also conducts much of his own advocacy. He has appeared on numerous occasions in the County Court (including the Technology and Construction Court and Mercantile Court), Magistrates Courts, Employment Tribunals, and before Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeals Panels and Courts-Martial. His experience covers not only a wide range of interlocutory hearings and applications, but also trials and other final hearings. He has also conducted (but not appeared) in proceedings in other forums including the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division), High Court, Crown Court, VAT and Duties Tribunal and the Benefits Tribunals.
